What is a Christian?

Well, that is an easy question to answer: “A Christian is a Follower or Disciple of Jesus Christ".

Are Protestants Christians?

Now here is your first test! In their hearts many of them probably are. At least, as far as I can tell, many of the Protestants I communicate with seem to be persons acting "in good faith".

Mind you, I have communicated with quite a few Protestants who display anything other than 'Christian' tendencies.  For a start many, if not most of them, seem to display a 'deep prejudice' against the Catholic Church.  But I am sure that is not you as you want to become a Christian Activist.

What is a Christian Activist?

Who Am I?

Then came the Vatican II Revolution of 1962-1965 and seemingly overnight the Catholic Church changed in extraordinary ways – first came the vernacular Mass, then the Novus Ordo Mass, then new Rites for all of the Seven Sacraments and then the remarkable exodus of religious (priests, nuns and brothers) from seminaries, convents and monasteries.

One of the first things you found out after coming to this site is that it is a site which is run by a Traditional Catholic.

For some of you that will be a shock.  After all haven’t you been taught to believe that Catholics are in league with the Anti-Christ!  You have probably been told that the Pope is the Anti-Christ! That has been the catch-cry of many Protestants for almost five hundred years!

Almost five hundred years!  If you are a Protestant that is how long your Faith … your Religion … has been in existence!

Common sense says that you if you follow Luther, or any of his disciples, you will follow them to disaster AND to the Loss of Your Soul.

To some of you reading this for the first time the reaction will be of incredulity! How can this be?

Well, you may remember the words of Our Lord Jesus Christ recorded in The Holy Bible as follows:

Matthew 7:21: “Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

Luke 13:24: "Strive to enter by the narrow gate; for many, I say to you, shall seek to enter, and shall not be able." and

Matthew 7:14: "How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life: and few there are that find it!"

If you take a tour of the website http://www.catholicapologetics.info you will come to a realization that “if you are to save your soul” you need to become a Practising Traditional Catholic.

That means, you need to accept the Truths that Jesus Christ has revealed through the Catholic Church and which the Catholic Church has taught in the almost two thousand years (2,000 years) of its existence.

After the Crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ the Apostles and Disciples were an intimidated and despairing group! Following His Resurrection Our Lord appeared to the Apostles and Disciples and they then gained Hope.  After His Ascension into Heaven Our Lord sent the Paraclete.  On the Day of Pentecost the Holy Ghost descended upon the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Apostles and Disciples and the Apostles and Disciples were inspired to convert three thousand people to the True Faith on that day alone.

The Catholic Church has an impressive history of growth from that day forward.  During those 2000 years it has been challenged by countless Heresies and the odd Schism BUT until the Disaster of Vatican II the Church had remained STRONG and CONFIDENT knowing that the Holy Ghost was present to guide her path!

Until the Motu Proprio 'Summorum Pontificum' of Pope Benedict XVI on July 7 2007 it was clear to the well-informed observer that modern day Rome was no longer propagating the Catholic Faith.

It was also clear to any Catholic who has a basic understanding of the Catholic Faith and who has attended a Novus Ordo Mass at his/her suburban ‘Catholic’ Church that the Catholic Faith was no longer propagated at that suburban Mass Centre!  That person would most likely find ‘at best’ a pale shadow of a former Sacred Liturgical Rite.  More than likely he/she would find what appears to be a ‘carbon copy’ of a Protestant Communion Service which had been promulgated in 1969 and imposed on the Catholic Church by Rome in 1970.

How can this be?

To a Traditional Catholic it is almost incomprehensible!

Almost I say, but not completely incomprehensible!  Jesus Christ alluded to the Last Days and the Bible Student will find many Bible prophecies of the Signs which are coming to pass in these present days.

Jesus said: "But yet the Son of man, when he cometh, shall he find, think you, faith on earth?" (Luke 18:8)

The clear implication is that when Jesus returns the Truth Faith will be held by very FEW and the TRUE MASS will be very SCARCE - Indeed!  That is pretty much the situation TODAY!

It remains to be seen whether Modern Day Catholic Priests will again celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass in suburban 'Catholic' Churches - early indications are that VERY FEW Modern Day Catholic Priests have followed the Pope's lead and are saying the Traditional Latin Mass - a sign that the Catholic Church is in a MAJOR CRISIS!.

Just be thankful that you have found this website ... you have found a way
that you can be effective to bring the Christian Faith
to a largely disbelieving World
and your reward will be your Mansion in Heaven.

After you have read many of the articles on the Catholic Apologetics website you will come to a realization that to save your soul you MUST practise the Traditional Catholic Faith handed down by Jesus Christ to His Apostles and handed on by them to those that followed. St Peter was appointed by Jesus Christ Himself as the first Pope (see Matthew 16.18* & 19*) and there has been an unbroken line of Popes (some 266 in total) to this present day culminating in the Reign of Pope Benedict XVI.

*Matthew 16.18: "And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

*Matthew 16.19: "I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, it shalt be loosed also in heaven,"

Oh, they say that they are!  I am sure they believe that they are!  They even call themselves Christians when they are advertising their beliefs.  However their beliefs are NOT Christian! Their beliefs do not include the Tradition which was handed down by Jesus Christ to St Peter and to the Apostles and faithfully protected by the Catholic Church.  Tradition preceded the Bible by more than 300 years!

Protestants are NOT Followers of Jesus Christ!  They do NOT have the Catholic Faith!  They do NOT recognize Tradition!

They MAY be Followers of Martin Luther, King Henry VIII, John Smyth, John Wesley or any one of the myriad of other persons who started their own break-away religions BUT I don't believe they are Christians because they are NOT following the Faith handed down by Jesus Christ to St Peter (the First Pope) and to the Apostles and preserved by the Catholic Church and by a Succession of Popes right up until the present day.

Most Protestants seem to think that all you have to do is accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour and you are saved.  Well that is not supported by Scripture.

Jesus Christ said:

Matthew 10:22: "And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake: but he that shall persevere unto the end, he shall be saved."

Luke 10:16: "He that heareth you, heareth me, and he that despiseth you despiseth me." and

John 12:48: "He that despiseth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him; the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day."

These statements by Jesus Christ should make it clear to any Protestant that you have to do more than just proclaim Jesus Christ as your Saviour if you expect to be saved. You must persevere unto the end! Your best chance of Saving Your Soul is to persevere as a Practising Catholic to the end!

If you are a Protestant person you should realize that your Salvation depends on your accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour AND by living and dying as a Practising Catholic!

You can’t save your Soul by practising any Religion other than the Catholic Religion.

Mind you, if you had been COMPLETELY UNAWARE of the fact that Jesus Christ established the Catholic Church as the means to work out your Salvation, it may have been possible for you to save your Soul due to INVINCIBLE IGNORANCE despite not being a Practising Catholic!  However, having read the information on this website you can’t use that as a Defence!

The Catholic Faith is built on the Twin Pillars of the BIBLE and TRADITION - however you should be aware that TRADITION preceded the BIBLE by over 300 YEARS!

There is an excellent publication by Michael Müller, C.SS.R entitled “The Catholic Dogma - Extra Ecclesiam Nullus Omnino Salvatur" which means "Out of the Church there is positively no Salvation" and it should be read by every Protestant. It can be accessed at

If you are a Protestant can you confidently state that you have never heard of the Catholic Church and did not know that it preceded the Protestant Religion by some 1500 years?  You can’t now!

When you are before Jesus Christ on Judgment Day what would be your Defence (if the Justice of God permitted you such a thing) or your response to the Challenging questions He will put to you:

If you were passing Judgment on you, what Sentence would you hand down?

“Come, ye blessed of my Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” Matthew 25:34 or

“Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels.” Matthew 25:41

There are so many passages in the Bible to substantiate the Catholic Faith that it is amazing that Protestants can’t find them or, if they do find them, that they don’t understand them.

So, basically, before you become a Christian Activist you have to make sure that you have become a Christian.

That means you MUST become a Practising Traditional Catholic!

Traditional Catholics

Prior to Vatican II the term ‘Traditional Catholic’ did not exist. Members of the Catholic Church were universally known as ‘Catholics’ or, as the Protestants like to call them, as ‘Roman Catholics’.  Following Vatican II there was a rapid disintegration of the ‘once impregnable bastion’ – the Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church fractured into many different groups – the two main ones being Novus Ordo Catholics who can more accurately be described as Roman Protestants and Traditional Catholics (previously known as ‘just plain’ Catholics).

Estimates vary but there would be at least ONE MILLION Traditional Catholics world-wide who attend the Masses celebrated by the SSPX Priests!  By the Grace of God that number will multiply by the actions of Christian Activists such as you!

Traditional Catholics hope and pray that Pope Benedict XVI will continue to restore Tradition to the Catholic Church.

The Motu Proprio 'Summorum Pontificum' of July 7 2007 when Pope Benedict XVI announced that ANY Catholic Priest can celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass and that it has NEVER been abrogated is a sign that our Prayers are being answered!  2.5 Million Rosaries were said by Traditional Catholics as a Spiritual Bouquet for Pope Benedict XVI with the Intention that the Traditional Latin Mass be restored to the Faithful.

This Great Announcement was followed by 1.7 Million Rosaries said by Traditional Catholics for the Lifting of the Excommunications of the four SSPX Bishops imposed on them by Pope John Paul II on 2 July 1988 and the result of these Rosaries was the Announcement by Rome on 21 January 2009 that the Pope had lifted the Excommunications of the four SSPX Bishops for the 1988 Episcopal Consecrations.

These Extraordinary Events have demonstrated the Power of the Rosary and the fact that, at last (it would seem), the Catholic Church has a Pope who has the courage to act like a Pope.  Praise God!

The Holy Bible

Most Protestants pay lipservice to the Holy Bible – they profess to read it and to follow it – but the simple reality is that they read inferior and inaccurate translations when compared with the Best English Translation of the Bible i.e. the Douay-Rheims Bible – the Catholic Bible.

Tragically, most modern day Catholics have NEVER read the Douay-Rheims Bible either!

If Jesus Christ read and quoted from the Septuagint, shouldn’t you?

The New Testament has about 350 quotations/citations from Old Testament verses. By careful examination scholars have determined that 300 of these quotations/citations are from the Septuagint and that only 50 are from the Hebrew Old Testament*.

They have shown that Jesus Christ Himself, quoted from the Septuagint.

The Septuagint

The Septuagint is the Catholic Old Testament. There are 46 books in the Catholic Old Testament including the following seven books missing from the Protestant Old Testament: Tobit, Judith, Baruch, Wisdom, Sirach (Ecclesiasticus), 1 and 2 Maccabees and parts of Esther and Daniel.

The Septuagint (sometimes abbreviated LXX) is the name given to the Greek translation of the Jewish Scriptures. The Septuagint has its origin in Alexandria, Egypt and was translated between 300-200 BC. The term "Septuagint" means seventy in Latin, and the text is so named to the credit of the 70-72 scholars who were commissioned to carry out the task of translation.

Early Christians used the Septuagint to support Christian teachings. The Jews were upset that these new Christians were using their translation for Christian advantage.

Hebrew Old Testament

About 90-95 AD, or several decades after the beginning of Christianity, the Jews called a council to deal with the matter. In this council, called "The Council of Jamnia", Jewish Pharisees, who survived the devastating destruction of Jerusalem and of their temple in 70 AD, decided to remove books that were helpful to Christians. They removed the seven books (referred to previously) using various reasons as their "authorisation" to do so.

The Catholic New Testament

For the first 300 years of Christianity, there was no Bible as we know it today. Christians had the Septuagint and hundreds of other books from which to choose.  The Catholic Church realized early on that she had to decide which of these books were inspired and which ones weren’t.

Much discussion was held between the Early Fathers of the Church as to which books comprised the New Testament. One of the most famous was between St Jerome, who felt the seven books referred to above were not canonical, and St Augustine who said they were.

The Pope stepped in to settle the matter.

In concurrence with the opinion of St Augustine, and being prompted by the Holy Spirit, Pope St Damasus I, at the Council of Rome in 382 AD, issued a decree appropriately, "The Decree of Damasus", in which he listed the canonical books of both the Old and New Testaments. He then asked St Jerome to use this canon and to write a new Bible translation which included an Old Testament (O.T.) of 46 books, the books of which were all in the Septuagint, and a New Testament (N.T.) of 27 books.

These O.T. and N.T. books were reaffirmed at:

• the Council of Hippo in 393 AD;
• the Council of Carthage III in 397 AD;
• the Council of Carthage IV in 419 AD;
• the Council of Florence 1431-1445; and
• the Council of Trent 1546-1565.

Luther's Bible

Martin Luther was a Catholic Priest of the Augustinian Order.  He broke with Rome in 1521 and in 1534 issued his own Bible adopting the Hebrew O.T.  He also removed 4 books (Hebrews, James, Jude and Revelation) from the N.T. and put them in an appendix.  He preferred the O.T. version approved by the Pharisees rather than the one used by Jesus Christ.

Isn’t it sinful to seek wealth?

Only if you seek it as an end in itself!

God has graced many a Great Saint throughout Recorded History with Great Wealth.  Can you imagine how many Cathedrals, Monasteries, Convents etc… would have been built by the Catholic Church if persons with great wealth did not donate a large proportion of that wealth to the Church?

It is when we become attached to our wealth to the detriment of the salvation of our souls that seeking wealth becomes dangerous.  If we are sensible and use our wealth wisely it can be used to bring the Good News to countless multitudes of people who are seeking to Save their Souls!

All things are possible if thou canst believe

Matthew 19:26: “And Jesus beholding, said to them: With men this is impossible: but with God all things are possible.”

Mark 9:22: “And Jesus saith to him: If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”

Mark 10:27: “And Jesus looking on them, saith: With men it is impossible; but not with God: for all things are possible with God.”

Mark 11:23: "Amen I say to you, that whosoever shall say to this mountain, Be thou removed and be cast into the sea, and shall not stagger in his heart, but believe, that whatsoever he saith shall be done; it shall be done unto him."

Mark 11:24: "Therefore, I say unto you, all things, whatsoever you ask when ye pray, believe that you shall received, and they shall come unto you."

Luke 18:27: “He said to them: The things that are impossible with men, are possible with God.”

Despite there being a number of conservative pockets within the Catholic Church, our continued exposure to the Novus Ordo Mass made us realise the stark contrast between pre- and post-Vatican II Catholicism.   We attended the Novus Ordo Mass for 20 years before encountering the Latin Mass and the Society of Saint Pius X, whose work within the Church is absolutely indispensable.  By the Grace of God, I have been a Traditional Catholic since 2003.

As a secondary school teacher, I have a keen interest in pro-life and educational issues.  Few people realise the sinister nature of contemporary education and it is my fervent desire that the system of education in Australia will eventually be exposed for what it truly is; a corrupting influence being used as a vehicle for social change, promoted by those who want to destroy the nuclear family and strip parents of their God-given right and privilege to educate their children in the Faith.

A lot of my spare time is spent researching pedagogical practices, curriculum documents, government policy and educational changes in Australian schools, and writing articles to expose the hidden agenda of contemporary education.   To this end, I find the Catholic Apologetics website to be a great source of information, with links to everything from Canon Law to Church Councils, from the history of the Church to the present crisis of Faith as well as a long list of Papal encyclicals.

Too often, good people sit on the sidelines and content themselves with doing only what they must because they think that, as just one person, they cannot make a difference.  But the Christian Activist MUST couple prayer with action.  As Saint James reminds us: For even as the body without the spirit is dead; so also faith without works is dead (James 2: 26).
